These are the rules for using CrazyGolfScores. They are one set for everybody: people who play, people who run a venue, and people who work at one. You agree to them once, when you make an account, and that covers whatever you go on to do in the app. How we look after your information is in our separate Privacy policy.
Version 2026-10-19
The short version
- One set of terms for everybody. You agree once, when you make an account, and that covers anything you go on to do here: play, run a venue or work at one.
- Score for fun, be kind with the names you put on a card, and think before you share a result.
- Offers come from the venues, on each venue’s own terms. They are for players with an account: each one is saved to your account and used at the venue with your code. If one is not honoured, tell us.
- Your scores are kept safe once they are saved, and a shared result can be seen by anybody with the link. Offers can stop working in the app if a venue leaves it, but the venue must still honour the ones you hold until they run out. Deleting your account removes the offers you hold.
- If you run a venue: keep your listing honest, honour every offer you publish, and never try to find out who a player is.
- Your two email choices are separate from these terms, and both are optional. Our Privacy policy explains what we do with your information.
Who we are and what these terms cover
CrazyGolfScores is run by CrazyGolfScores Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17509229, whose registered office is at 237 Nine Mile Ride, Wokingham, RG40 3QA. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean that company, and “the app” means CrazyGolfScores however you reach it: our website at crazygolfscores.com, the app installed on your phone, a QR code or a cgs.sc short link.
One set of terms, agreed once
These terms cover everything you can do in the app, whatever your part in it: playing, running a venue or working at one. You agree to them once, by ticking the box when you make an account (or, if your account was made another way, such as by an invitation to join a venue, the first time you sign in), and that covers any part you are given later. If you go on to run a venue, or a venue asks you to join its staff, you have already agreed to the sections for that, so there is nothing more to sign. The sections that do not fit what you do simply do not apply to you: if you only ever play, the ones for venues never come into it.
Playing without an account
You can score a round as a guest, without making an account, and you will not be asked to tick anything. By using the app you still accept the parts of these terms about using it: Playing and scoring, Offers from courses, Acceptable use, Our app and its content, Keeping the app running, Our responsibility to you and Law and disputes.
If a child is scoring, the grown-up with them is responsible for how the app is used. A guest sign-in is deleted 90 days after it was last used, as the Privacy policy explains.
Your information
How we look after your information is set out in our Privacy policy. It is a separate page: you read it, you do not agree to it. There is a short summary in Your privacy.
If your venue has agreed something else with us
If we have agreed something with your venue in writing, such as its fees, that agreement and these terms work together. Where the two say different things, the written agreement wins.
Your account
Who can make one
You need to be 13 or over to make an account. If you are under 18, please check with a parent or carer first. If we find out an account belongs to somebody under 13, we will close it and delete its details.
Younger children are very welcome to play. They can score as a guest with a grown-up, or be a name on a grown-up’s card, which needs no account at all.
One account, one person
An account is for one person. Do not share yours, do not make one for somebody else, and do not make more than one account to get extra offers. A work email address is fine, as long as one named person looks after the account: if you run a venue, that is how we link you to it.
The one exception is a shared till or kiosk. A venue may set up one staff login for a shared till or kiosk device. The venue is responsible for who uses it, and that login must not be used to hold or use offers.
Keeping it safe
- Use an email address that is yours and that you can read. We send the 6-digit codes and the links you need to sign in there, and changing it needs a code sent to both the old address and the new one.
- Keep your password to yourself, and pick one you do not use anywhere else.
- Your player code, in My code, works like a voucher: anybody who shows it at a venue can use the offers you hold there. Do not post it, or share a picture of it.
- If you think somebody else has got into your account, reset your password and tell us straight away.
You are responsible for what is done with your account if you shared your password or code, or did not take reasonable care to keep them safe. If somebody got in some other way, it is not on you, and we will help you put it right.
Playing and scoring
Scores are for fun
The app is free for players, with or without an account. The scores you keep are your own record of a good afternoon. Nobody checks them, and they only count towards a competition if the venue running it says so. On the course, the venue’s own rules apply: the app just keeps the score.
The names on a card
Whoever scores types the names in, so if that is you, you are responsible for them. A first name or a nickname is plenty. Only add people who are playing with you, keep the names kind, and do not put anybody’s full name, contact details or anything else about them on a card. That goes double for children.
Sharing a result
Sharing a result makes a link. Anybody with the link can see the players’ first names (surnames are never shown), their scores, the course, the venue and the date, and so can any service that turns the link into a preview. Most shared links stop working if the account or guest sign-in that scored the round is deleted. A link made while you had no signal carries the result inside the link itself, so it keeps working wherever it has been sent. Once you have sent a link, we cannot control where it goes, so only share results the players would be happy to show. If children are on the card, think twice before sharing the link anywhere public.
Course details
Most listings come from public sources and have not been checked by the venue. A map pin sits at the middle of the venue’s postcode, or sometimes just in its town, so it can be a few hundred metres out or more, and opening times, prices and holes change. We do our best to keep listings right, but we cannot promise they are, so check with the venue before you travel.
How courses are ordered
Venues on a paid level (QR codes or Promotions) are listed above venues on the free Listed level, which include courses nobody has claimed. Venues that pay for Promoted placement are shown first, with a bigger pin on the map, and are labelled “Promoted” where they are listed. Within each of those, your home course comes first, then the nearest courses if you have let the app use your location, then the rest by name.
Installing the app
You can install the app on your phone’s home screen. It is free, and it works just as the website does.
Offers from courses
Offers are made by the venues, not by us. Each one is a deal between you and the venue, on the terms shown with it.
Where offers come from
A venue on the Promotions level can run offers through the app. The venue decides what each offer is, when it runs and the terms that go with it, which are in the small print at the foot of the offer. The venue honours it at its own till: no money goes through the app, and we do not sell anything. We are not a party to the deal between you and the venue, so your rights over it are against the venue.
Two kinds of offer
- Offers on a venue’s page. Anybody can see these, on the venue’s page and its listing, but they are for players with an account. Tap Get this offer and it is added to your account, in Offers. If you are not signed in, the app keeps it for 24 hours while you make an account or log in, as long as the offer is still running.
- Offers you get for playing. When you finish a round at a course that is running one, it is added to your account, in Offers. You need an account to hold one: if you are not signed in, the app keeps it for 24 hours while you make an account or log in, as long as the offer is still running.
Using an offer
Show your code from My code to a member of the venue’s staff. They scan it, see the offers you hold at that venue, and mark the one you are using as used. They do not see your name or any other details. Each offer says when it runs out and how many times each customer can use it. Once you have used it that many times, or it has run out, it cannot be used again. If a venue changes an offer after you got it, you are owed what it said when it became yours. We keep a record of changes to offers, so if you think an offer you hold has changed since you got it, tell us and we will check what it said.
How many times you can use one
The venue chooses how many times each customer can use an offer: once, unless the offer’s terms say otherwise (“One use per customer”, or “Up to 3 uses per customer”, for example). Every use counts, however you got the offer, from a venue’s page or from any number of rounds. The app gives you an offer for playing when you finish a round, and an offer from a venue’s page when you tap Get this offer, but never a second copy while you hold one you can still use, and never another once you have used it as many times as the venue allows. If the one you hold runs out before you have had all your uses, you can get it again while the offer is still running.
When an offer stops working
If a venue switches an offer off, offers you already hold still work until their end date. If a venue stops running offers through the app, moves off the level that includes them, or leaves the app, the offers you hold from it may stop working in the app: they stay in your Offers list, but the venue’s staff can no longer mark them used. The venue has agreed to honour offers you already hold until their end date when you show them to it. If it will not, tell us.
If a venue will not honour an offer
Talk to the venue first: most mix-ups are sorted at the counter. If that does not work, tell us. We will take it up with the venue, and we can take an offer down or stop a venue running offers. We cannot pay out an offer ourselves, but your rights against the venue are not affected.
Offers by email are a separate choice
Holding offers in the app is not the same as having offers emailed to you. Offers by email come from courses near your home course or home town, and they are one of your two email choices: optional, off to start with, and saying no changes nothing else. A venue never contacts you itself, as our Privacy policy explains.
If you run a venue
This section applies to you if you claim a venue, or are set up in the app to run one. Here, “your venue” means the business that runs the course. The promises about fees, content, offers and costs in this section are your venue’s, not yours personally. Your own promises are that you are allowed to act for it and that you will use the app as these terms say.
Your authority
You must be 18 or over to claim or run a venue.
When you claim a venue, or accept an invitation to run one, you confirm that you are allowed to act for the business that runs it, and that the sections of these terms for venues apply to that business. Only claim a venue you are allowed to act for. If it turns out you were not allowed to act for the business, you are personally responsible for what you agreed on its behalf. Your venue is responsible for what its managers and staff do in the app.
Levels and fees
Each venue has its own level. Listed is free. QR codes and Promotions are paid levels, and Promoted placement is a paid add-on to either. Claiming a venue is free. When we approve a claim, the listing is marked as claimed and stays on the Listed level: you can correct it, and your phone, email, website and opening times go on it. A paid level is one we set with you.
The QR codes level adds your photos, description and prices, your holes and pars, and QR codes and short links that work. The Promotions level adds offers, staff who can mark them used, and your venue’s numbers. Promoted placement puts your venue at the top of the list with a bigger pin on the map and a “Promoted” label. It is separate from offers.
Fees, billing and payment are as agreed with your venue in writing (email is fine) before we charge anything; we never charge a venue that has not agreed its fees with us. Unless that agreement says otherwise: prices are as quoted, plus VAT if we charge it; either of us can end a paid level with 30 days’ notice in writing; fees for a period that has already started are not refunded; and if fees are not paid, we may move the venue to the Listed level after telling it.
We may change what a level includes. If a change takes away something your venue pays for, we will tell you at least 30 days before it happens. Your venue can then end that level straight away, and we will refund any fees it has paid for the time after it ends. We will do the same if we end a paid level ourselves, other than for unpaid fees or a breach of these terms.
Your listing
Keep your listing honest and up to date: the description, prices, opening times, contact details, courses, holes and pars. On the QR codes and Promotions levels, what you save shows on your venue’s page straight away, as coming from the venue. On the Listed level, your contact details and opening times show once your venue is claimed; the description, prices, photographs, holes and pars come with the QR codes level. Do not put anything on your listing that is untrue, misleading, or that you are not allowed to publish.
Your venue’s name, address, web address and pin on the map are changed by us, not in your venue area. If any of them is wrong or changes, tell us and we will put it right.
Photographs and words you add
Only add photographs and words that your venue owns or has permission to use. Only add photographs of people who have agreed to be shown in the app and in our social media posts, and for anybody under 18, their parent or carer has agreed. If you cannot be sure, use photographs where nobody can be recognised. If somebody in a photograph asks us to take it down, we will.
Your venue keeps ownership of what it adds. It gives us free, non-exclusive permission to store it, show it, resize and crop it, and use it in the app, on our website, on signs, and in our social media posts about your venue or the app, and to let the companies that host the app store it for us. That permission lasts while it is on your listing, and afterwards for anything already printed or posted. Photographs on a listing are public: anybody can see them and link to them. Take one down in your venue area and it comes off the page.
If somebody makes a claim against us because of something your venue added, an offer it published, or an offer it did not honour, your venue will cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, and anything we have to pay as a result.
Offers you publish
- Every offer must be genuine and lawful, and honoured on the terms shown with it for as long as it runs. That includes offers players already hold: switching an offer off stops new ones being given out, but the ones already held can still be used until they run out. If your venue stops running offers, moves off the Promotions level or leaves the app, your staff can no longer mark offers used in the app, but your venue still honours the offers players already hold until their end date, when the player can show them to you.
- Once players hold an offer, do not change it to make it worse for them. If you edit an offer, players who already hold it are owed what it said when they got it, and you must honour that. To change the deal, switch the offer off and start a new one.
- Offers must follow consumer law and the advertising rules in the CAP Code. A saving must be real and the terms clear, and anything that would change a player’s mind, such as an end date, a minimum spend or “weekdays only”, must be in the offer’s terms, not left for the counter.
- Because many players are children and the app does not know anyone’s age, offers must be suitable for all ages, and must not be for alcohol, gambling, vapes, energy drinks or anything else that is age-restricted. Offers for food or drink must follow the rules on advertising it, including the restrictions on advertising less healthy food where they apply to your venue’s business.
- Do not use offers to run competitions, prize draws or anything that depends on a score or on luck.
- The offer form starts with most of our standard terms already ticked. Read every one before you publish, untick any that do not apply to this offer, and add your own words only where you need to. The terms players see must be the ones you will really use.
- You choose how many times each customer can use each offer, from 1 to 99, and it is 1 unless you change it. The app counts every use, on offers on your venue’s page and offers for playing alike. Players save an offer on your venue’s page to their account, and your staff scan their code to mark it used, as with an offer for playing. Honour every offer, on its terms, for every player who holds it, up to the number of uses you set.
Players’ privacy
You will see your venue’s numbers as counts: never a name, an email address, a scorecard or who a player is. Do not try to find out who a player is from the app, and do not use the app to collect players’ details or to contact them. Only we ever email players about offers, and only the players who said yes. If you would like an offer emailed to players, ask us. We decide whether to send it, who receives it and when, and you will only ever see how many people it went to.
Your staff
On the Promotions level, you can add staff to scan players’ codes and mark offers used. Only add people who work for your venue, make sure they follow the section for staff (If you work at a venue), and remove them when they leave or no longer need to scan. There is no minimum age for staff beyond the 13 needed for an account, but your venue is responsible for making sure anybody it adds is allowed to do this work. When you scan codes yourself, the rules for staff apply to you too.
QR codes and signs
On a paid level, your venue gets QR codes and short links: one for the venue and one for each course. A scan opens your venue’s page or that course’s page in the app, or your own website if you choose that in your venue area. The codes and the short links are ours. They work while your venue is on a paid level and switched on: if it moves to the Listed level, is switched off or leaves, a scan shows a page saying the code is no longer active. While your venue is marked as temporarily closed, a scan shows a page saying so instead. You print your signs from your venue area. Do not change the code on them. If you point your codes at your own website, it must be yours and safe to visit. A code given to your venue stays your venue’s: it is never moved to another one. We may switch off or replace a code, or send it back to your page in the app (for example if the website it points to is not safe), if it is misused or a sign goes missing.
We do not post signs out: you print your venue’s signs from your venue area, and display them while it is on a paid level. When your venue leaves a paid level, please take them down, as the codes stop taking players to it.
Your numbers
The numbers we show you are worked out from what players record in the app, so they are a guide, not a count of everybody who played. We cannot promise the app will bring your venue any particular number of players, any extra takings or any savings.
What we can do
To keep the app accurate, fair and safe, we may:
- set and change your venue’s level and Promoted placement, in line with what we have agreed with you;
- correct, edit, hide or switch off a listing, a course or an offer that is wrong, unlawful, misleading or could cause harm;
- approve or turn down a claim, and remove a manager or a member of staff;
- switch off or replace a QR code or short link, or send it back to your page in the app.
If we restrict, hide or switch off anything of your venue’s, we will tell you why when we do it (before, where we can), and you can reply to us about it. Except where the law requires it, or for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, we will give your venue at least 30 days’ notice in writing, with our reasons, before we stop providing the app to it altogether.
Leaving
You can stop running a venue in the app at any time: tell us and we will remove you. Your venue can also ask us to take its page off the map, the list and search. When a venue leaves, what it added stays with its listing unless it asks us to take it down, and its codes stop taking players to it. Ending a paid level takes 30 days’ notice in writing, unless your venue’s written agreement with us says otherwise (see Levels and fees above).
If somebody who no longer works for your venue can still run it in the app, tell us and we will remove them. If more than one person claims a venue, or a venue disputes who runs it, we decide who does, and we may ask for proof that they act for the business.
If you work at a venue
This section applies to you whenever you scan players’ codes or mark offers used for a venue: as a member of its staff (after you press “Join the staff”) or as one of its managers. In the app you act for that venue, and the venue is responsible for what you do there. If you are under 18, your venue is responsible for making sure you are allowed to do this work.
- Scan only a code that a player shows you in person, and mark an offer used only when that player is using it, on the offer’s terms.
- You will see the offers that player holds at your venue and nothing else. Do not try to find out who they are, and do not note down, keep or share their code.
- You can play and hold offers like any other player. To use your own, ask a colleague to scan your code rather than marking it used yourself, unless your venue allows it. Do not mark offers used for your friends or family unless your venue allows that too.
- Your staff access ends when the venue removes you or you delete your account, and it does not work while the venue is not on the Promotions level. If you leave the job, ask the venue to remove you. Your account carries on as a player’s.
Acceptable use
Whether you have an account or not, please do not:
- break the law, or use the app to bully, harass or upset anybody, including in a name on a card or anything on a listing;
- pretend to be somebody else, or claim a venue you are not allowed to act for;
- make fake accounts, or extra ones to get more offers;
- make up rounds or scores to get offers, sell, swap or share offers or player codes, or use somebody else’s;
- mark an offer used when it was not;
- copy large parts of the app’s listings or data, whether by hand or with robots or scrapers;
- try to get into accounts or parts of the app you are not allowed into, test or get round its security or its limits, or put anything harmful into it;
- add anything you do not have the right to share, or that is hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise unlawful;
- use the app to advertise or to send messages, other than offers a venue runs through the app’s own tools.
If you find a weakness in the app’s security, please tell us at alex@alexpink.co.uk and do not use it. If somebody breaks these rules, we may remove what they added, and Suspending or ending explains what else we can do.
Our app and its content
The app, its design, words, pictures and code, and the CrazyGolfScores name, belong to us or to the people who let us use them. Some things in it belong to others: the map comes from OpenStreetMap, postcode data is used under the Open Government Licence, and photographs are credited on our Credits page.
We give you permission to use the app for your own enjoyment and, if you run or work at a venue, to run that venue in it. Please do not copy, change, sell or reuse the app in any other way.
What you put in the app, such as the names and scores on your cards, stays yours. You let us store it and show it so the app can work: on your cards, in a result you share, and in the counts a venue sees.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, without owing you anything.
Your privacy
Our Privacy policy explains what the app records, what a course can and cannot see, who holds your information, and your rights. Please read it. It is not something you agree to: it tells you what we do.
- Apart from the offers a player shows its staff when using one, a course only ever sees counts. Never a name, an email address, a phone number or a scorecard.
- Your two email choices, offers from courses near your home course or home town and news about the app, are separate from these terms. Both are optional and start off, and agreeing to these terms does not sign you up to either. You can change them any time in Preferences.
- When you agree to these terms, we keep a record of which version you agreed to, and when.
- You can see, correct and download your data, or delete your account, in Preferences, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Keeping the app running
We work hard to keep the app running and your scores safe. But it is a free app run by a small company, so we cannot promise it will always be available or never go wrong, and now and then we need to take it down to fix or improve it. This does not affect your legal rights, which are set out in Our responsibility to you.
Scoring works without a signal: your rounds are kept on your device and saved to us when you are back online. Until a round has been saved, it is only on that device, so it can be lost if the device’s storage is cleared.
We may change the app, add to it, or take things away. If we ever close it, we will give you reasonable notice first, and a chance to download your data.
Other websites the app links to, including a venue’s own website that its QR codes point to, are not ours, and we are not responsible for them.
Our responsibility to you
If you use the app for yourself
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer, including those under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable. The app is for personal use, so we are not responsible for any business loss.
If something we supplied damages your device, or other digital content of yours, because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or pay you fair compensation.
What happens at a venue
The venue runs its course, not us. Its safety, its staff, its prices and its rules, and what happens to you while you are there, are matters for the venue. So is honouring its offers, although we will help, as Offers from courses explains.
If you run a venue
This part applies to your venue as a business. Nothing limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Otherwise, we are not responsible to your venue for lost profit, takings, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect loss, and our total responsibility to your venue in any 12 months is limited to the greater of £100 and the fees your venue paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Suspending or ending
You can stop at any time
Stop using the app whenever you like, or delete your account in Preferences. When you do, your details go straight away, the names on your cards become “Player 1”, “Player 2” and so on, the offers you hold go, any part you have at a venue ends, and most links you have shared stop working (one made with no signal carries the result inside it, so it keeps working). Your rounds stay only in the venues’ counts. The Privacy policy has the details, including what happens to a claim for a venue.
When we can
We may suspend or close an account, take away a part at a venue, or switch off a listing, an offer or a code, if somebody breaks these terms in a serious way or keeps breaking them, if the law requires it, or to protect players, venues or the app. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you the chance to put things right. If we close a player’s account for a reason that is not their fault, we will give reasonable notice. For a venue, the notice and reasons promised under What we can do in If you run a venue apply.
If we close your account, we will tell you why, unless the law or somebody’s safety stops us, and give you the chance to download your data first. If you think we have got it wrong, email us and a person will look at it again.
The parts of these terms that are meant to carry on, such as the permission for photographs already printed, and the parts about responsibility and the law, carry on after an account ends.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the app changes or the law does. Each version has a date and a version name, shown at the top of this page. Before a change that matters takes effect for you, we will tell you: the app will ask you to agree to the new version, with a tick, the next time you use it signed in. If you would rather not agree, you can stop using the app and delete your account. Until you agree, you can still download your data or delete your account in Preferences. A small change that does not affect your rights, like fixing a typo, keeps the same version, so we will not ask you again.
When we replace a version, we keep the earlier one, and if you ask, we will send you the words of the version you agreed to. These terms are in English only. You can save or print this page at any time.
You are reading version 2026-10-19, last updated 19 October 2026.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you use the app for yourself and live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you also keep the consumer protections of the law where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there or in England and Wales. For a venue, the law of England and Wales applies and the courts of England and Wales decide any dispute.
If something goes wrong, please tell us first. Most things can be sorted with an email.
A few more legal points
- If a court decides part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not insist on something straight away, we can still insist on it later.
- We may pass this agreement to another business, for example if the app is sold. We will tell you if we do, and it will not reduce your rights. You cannot pass your account to anybody else.
- Only you, your venue if you run one, and we have rights under these terms. Nobody else can enforce them.
